// CONCEPT MOCKUP — illustrative valuations, not live prices or quotes.

Settings

Which grades the desk tracks, and what it calibrates against. Nothing on this page is wired up in the mockup.

The part that makes this yours

Connect your own purchase history

Every number in this mockup is derived from public indices, which means today it tells you what the market is doing — not what you pay. Six to twenty-four months of your actual purchase and sale prices changes that: the discount to LME stops being our assumption and becomes your measured one, and “is this quote fair?” gets answered against your own book instead of a German index.

Where the data would come from

Checked against the live endpoints on 28 August 2026. Lag is measured, not quoted from a brochure. Nothing here is running yet — this is what we would build on.

Free, and enough to build on

  • EU aluminium scrap exports by destination

    Free·Monthly, ~2 months

Eurostat Comext DS-045409, CN 7602. What EU scrap actually cleared customs at, per destination country — so the EU-vs-Asia comparison is real trade, not an assessment. CC BY 4.0, free to use commercially with attribution.

  • Finnish and German scrap unit values

    Free·Monthly, ~3 months

Same dataset, reported per country. Value divided by quantity gives EUR/tonne — the method Eurostat uses for its own secondary-material price indicator. One basket for all aluminium scrap, so mix moves it as well as price.

  • Aluminium benchmark price

    Free·Monthly average, ~4 weeks

IMF global aluminium price via FRED (PALUMUSDM). LME-based, but published by the IMF, so it carries none of the LME's licensing. Monthly average.

  • EUR/USD

    Free·Same day, ~16:00 CET

ECB euro reference rates. The only daily series here.

Paid — no free equivalent exists

  • Per-grade prices: Alloy 226 / 231 / 233

    Paid·Weekly

Fastmarkets (Metal Bulletin) and WVM. This is the one that decides the shape of the product: without it there is no per-grade view and no weekly cadence, at any price short of a subscription.

  • LME daily official prices

    Paid·Next day

Free to view after registration, but displaying it in a product needs an LME data-distributor licence — a one-off fee of roughly USD 4,000 plus terms. lme.com also blocks automated requests, so scraping it is both blocked and against terms.

On forecasting

We don't do it. Nobody publishes a free forecast for aluminium scrap. The World Bank's Commodity Markets Outlook forecasts primary aluminium as an annual average, twice a year — $3,200/t for 2026, $3,000/t for 2027 in the April edition. Free, citable, and a reasonable planning anchor. It is not a four-week view of any grade, and we won't present it as one.
